Scheduling

We schedule one patient per appointment because you deserve exclusive, personal time with Dr. Wyte and our staff. We strive to run on time so you won’t be kept waiting, and we ask you to arrive for your appointments on time as well. We understand that you are busy, and your time is valuable to us!

Please call at least two business days in advance for changed appointments. Missed appointments without this notification or repeated cancellations will incur cancellation fees. We want to work with you to schedule convenient appointments for your visits to our office.

Insurance & Payment Options

Our goal is to help remove financial barriers so our patients can receive the dental care they need and desire. We are in network with many dental insurance companies, and in the majority of cases, we are able and pleased to assist our patients in maximizing their benefits. At your first visit, we will ask you for current dental insurance information. We may ask you to confirm this information at subsequent visits, so we can remain up-to-date and fully informed to serve you. As a courtesy to you, we file all claim forms electronically, provide postage for special claims, and we track the claims as an obligation to you. Call us about your plan!

• Do you accept referrals?

  • We most certainly accept referrals from other dental offices as well as referrals made by our patients or their family, friends, and coworkers who currently have no “happy dental home”.

• Do you accept my insurance plan?

  • We work with most types of insurance. Our goal is to assist you in maximizing your insurance benefits. For your convenience, we will do all the necessary paperwork. This means we not only fill out the claim form, we will also complete a narrative, and send a copy of the x-rays, gum and bone health charting, and photographs to your insurance company, if necessary. All you need to do is pay your deductible and patient portion.  Once your insurance company has sent us the check, we will bill you for the remaining balance, if any.

    We make your dental care financially comfortable. Our goal is not to let expense prevent you from benefiting from the quality of care you deserve and desire. To facilitate this goal we have developed the following financial options:

• How do I fit dental treatment into my budget when dental insurance covers very little?

• How can I directly ask the doctor a question?

  • We encourage all of our patients to have open, direct communication with the doctor and our team members. We are available to answer your questions either via e-mail or voice mail.  In case of emergencies the office voice mail after hours always has emergency contact information.

• What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety?

  • Our entire practice team closely adheres to and exceeds excellent sterilization and infection control procedures as outlined by the American Dental Association (ADA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC). This goes beyond wearing gloves and face masks to prevent passing germs. It includes a specialized sanitation center and a water filtration system that guarantees a fresh water source for each patient.

• I really don't like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?

  • We strive to create a relaxing atmosphere by understanding your concerns so that we can help alleviate them. We offer relaxing sedation options to help calm the nerves of our patients who are extremely anxious.

• Can you tell me more about crowns, onlays, inlays, veneers, and fillings?

  • To restore teeth, many factors must be considered.  Including:

    » The strength needed to properly restore the tooth in order to withstand the forces of your bite.

    » How long the patient desires the treatment to last, i.e. a short term fix vs. a long term solution.

    » The esthetics (how good does the patient want it to look).

    We can apply all porcelain, porcelain over gold, or all gold that will protect the tooth and restore it to proper form and function.  For large decayed or damaged surface areas, we can apply a protective covering, or onlay, adding strength and preventing decay. If you need fillings, we can use porcelain inlays to strengthen the tooth. And we can restore front teeth to natural shapes by applying paper-thin porcelain veneers.

• Do I have to floss every day? Is it really that important?

  • It's been said that you should only floss those teeth that you want to keep, and it's true! A little regular flossing goes a long way and is truly critical for your overall oral health. It loosens food particles in tight spaces that your toothbrush cannot reach, it gets rid of plaque buildup that toothbrushes alone cannot remove, and it protects your gum tissues from irritation. It's a safeguard against gum disease. So, just think of daily flossing as the finishing touch after brushing - insurance for your smile's future.

• My dentist told me I'm going to need root canal therapy. What should I know before my appointment?

  • Beneath the top layer of your tooth (the enamel) and the second layer (the dentin), there is a pulp, or nerve, which delivers sensations such as heat, cold, and pain to the brain. Whether from excessive decay or physical trauma, this nerve can become damaged, causing an abscess to form at the root of the tooth. Your dentist has recommended root canal therapy, a procedure in which the diseased pulp is removed from an infected tooth, to prevent further damage and tooth loss, and most importantly, to relieve your pain.

    Symptoms of an infected root include severe toothaches, sensitivity, discoloration, and upraised lesions on your gums. X-rays and a thorough dental examination determines whether a root canal your best option. Though root canal therapy has a reputation for being painful, the toothaches associated with an infected root are most likely causing you more pain than the treatment will. In addition, there are a number of ways to relieve pain and discomfort, including nitrous oxide and oral sedation.

    The nerve is not vitally important for day-to-day function, so removing it will not affect your tooth—unless you count saving the tooth from total loss! In fact, allowing it to decay further can lead to more pain and bone loss. Usually, an over the counter pain medication takes care of immediate post-operative discomfort, and most patients return to normal activities the very next day. Root canal therapy is highly successful, and a tooth receiving the treatment can last you a lifetime. Especially when used in conjunction with a restoration (a crown or composite filling), no one will even notice a difference in your smile.
